Useful Information for Class 5/6
Homework and spellings will be sent out on alternate Fridays. The dates are moving through the next term are: 25th April, 6th May, 20th May, 10th June, 24th June and 8th July. Year 6’s will need to have completed their SATs related homework for the day before each of these dates. We will continue to run homework club on a Wednesday lunch to support any pupils who wish to come along.
(Spelling tests will take place on Friday morning on these dates, please can all children make sure their orange home spelling books are in school).
Maths
We follow a Mastery approach to maths and during the course of this academic year the children will cover the relevant curriculum for their year group. The links below provide a break down of coverage for this academic year for children in year 5 and children in year 6; please be aware that this may be adapted following assessment for learning within lessons.

English
This term we will be working on fictional stories leading up to and interlinking with our topic of the Industrial Revolution. We will also be covering poetry, persuasive writing and playscripts during the course of the term. SPAG lessons will continue to be integrated at appropriate points throughout the units of work.
Reading
As a class we will be taking part in whole class guided reading sessions. In addition to this, please can all children read regularly at home recording all their reading in their reading records. Please can reading records be in school daily, as we will continue to record reading with individual readers in school.
P.E
Year 5 children will be going to William Brookes for their PE on a Wednesday morning. All information about this will be shared via parentmail.
Year 6 children will have PE on a Thursday, please can children come to school ‘PE ready’ wearing school PE Kit (black shorts, joggers or leggings, plain white or plain navy blue t-shirt and their school jumper/cardigan). Trainers can only be worn to school on the relevant PE day.
